3S Prime Engineering provided structural engineering for this multi-level hillside residence, including the gravity and lateral systems, foundations, retaining structures, and cantilevered elements supporting the curved architectural design.
Engineering Challenge
The project combines a steep hillside site with curved geometry, large cantilevers, expansive glazing, and limited locations for conventional structural supports.
Engineering Solution
The structural system was designed to integrate with the home's curved geometry while supporting the large cantilevered floor areas and open glass façades. The foundation and lateral systems were developed to address the challenging hillside conditions and seismic requirements while preserving the architectural design.
