3S Prime Engineering provided structural engineering for this two-story custom fire-rebuild residence, including the gravity and lateral systems, foundations, large openings, and structural framing required to support the contemporary architectural design.
Engineering Challenge
Large floor-to-ceiling openings, an asymmetrical façade, and limited locations for conventional shear walls required careful structural coordination while maintaining the home's open interior spaces and architectural character.
Engineering Solution
The structural system was designed to accommodate the large openings and open floor plan while providing the required gravity and seismic resistance. Structural elements were carefully integrated within the architectural layout to minimize their visual impact and preserve the clean, contemporary design.
