Engineering Scope
3S Prime Engineering provided structural engineering for this two-story Mediterranean-style residence, including the gravity and lateral systems, foundations, balconies, arched openings, and other architectural features.
Engineering Challenge
Large arched openings, second-floor balconies, clay tile roofing, and the home's open architectural layout required careful coordination of the structural system while maintaining the traditional Mediterranean design.
Engineering Solution
The structural system was designed to efficiently transfer loads around the large openings and support the upper floor, balconies, and roof while providing the required seismic resistance. Structural elements were carefully integrated and concealed to preserve the architectural character of the residence.
