3S Prime Engineering provided structural engineering for this two-story Mediterranean-style residence, including the gravity and lateral systems, foundations, roof framing, balconies, and large arched openings.
Engineering Challenge
The clay tile roof, large arched openings, second-floor balconies, and limited wall areas required careful structural coordination while maintaining the home's traditional architectural character.
Engineering Solution
The structural system was designed to support the large openings, balconies, upper floor, and tile roof while providing the required seismic resistance. Structural elements were integrated within the walls and architectural features to preserve the open spaces and Mediterranean façade. This is the version I would put on the website. It is consistent with what we can see and doesn't make unsupported claims about the exact structural system.
